An Enduring Legacy (the story of Basque in Idaho

This Story is written by

John Bieter & Mark Bieter

In loving memory of there Parents

So much Basque History

Anyone who wants to know about the Basque experience in America will want to read this book.

In An Enduring Legacy, brothers John and Mark Bieter chronicle three generations of Basque presence in Idaho from 1890 to the present, an engaging story that begins with a few solitary sheepherders and follows their evolution into prominent ethnic community they are today.

Brothers John and Mark Bieter

were born and rasied in Boise Idaho.

John is a contributor to Portraits of Basque in the New World and is director of the Cenarrusa Center, an academic and cultural institute in Boise.

Mark was a Washington, D.C. , correspondent for the Basque National Radio and was active in the American-Basque Foundation.

Kim and Kathy Vader

of Idaho Sheep Camp first herd John Bieter speak at Trailing of the Sheep Ketchum Idaho Oct 2008

and again in Gooding Idaho in 2009 and a couple more times. He has given us so much info. on the Basque and this we have pass on as well as bought his book .

Several of our family members also purchased the book , plus many others .

If you see John as a speaker be sure to go its well worth your time.

The book is a must have and you can get it at the Boise Basque Museum and most book stores.

We like to thank John & Mark
